Peter is an evangelist with the AICT (African Inland Church of Tanzania) church. Ruthie assisted her husband and had sewing classes with the women. She is now is enrolled in the NASSA Bible College in Tanzania to increase her Bible knowledge and her ministry skills. The Pharles are from a Christian background and received their training in Tanzania. Even though they are African themselves, they have had to make a lot of adjustments living and working with the Rangi people. They began their ministry in 2000. God has blessed the work. In a place where there were no believers, a church in Pahi, Tanzanian was started eight years ago with now over 90 meeting regularly for worship. This work of God has faced much opposition. The original church was burned down several years ago, and there have been threats on new believers who have left the Muslim religion to accept Christ as their Savior. A few years ago a branch church has was planted in a nearby village. . Evangelistm and discipleship are the main parts of the ministry to the Rangi people. . A medical clinic was opened in Pahi which provides a good means for outreach. A hostel for relatives of patients was built so they can stay overnight. The clinic received government registration and is overseen by Dr. Chanja. In addition, the Pahi church started a girls' boarding school on the church property with 45 girls attending mostly from a Muslim background. Many already have professed faith in Christ. A kindergarten has been organized with an enrollment of over 70 children. Peter was ordained September 29, 2004. In August, 2008 Peter left Pahi village to begin studies at the Scott Theological Seminary near Nairobi, Kenya so he can be better equipped to serve our Lord, possibly in other new Rangi areas. Ruthie will finish her studies at NASSA Bible College in 2009 |
